All applications are due March 1, unless otherwise stated. Turn in completed applications and all attachments, stapled to that application, to Ms. Drees unless otherwise stated. Applications are best typed, or clearly printed in black ink. Be courteous to those writing letters of recommendation by giving them at least one or two weeks notice before the letter is needed, also give them an addressed envelope with a stamp if they are not to return the letter to you.

RUSSELL ELKS SCHOLARSHIP

Must Attend: four year post secondary school

Application Process: Access application online at www.elks.org/enf/scholars/mvs.cfm

Selection Process: Male and Female will compete separately. High School Senior, legal US Citizen, Judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need.

Award amount: $1000 - $12500 per year

Deadline is Dec 4, 2015

**NHS Scholarship

Contact: NHS Sponsor

Must Attend: four-year post-secondary school

Application Process: Students must be nominated by their high school NHS chapter. An online application will be forwarded to the nominees. WHS can nominate up to two.

Selection Process: NHS sponsor, principal, and Senior core curriculum teachers will review the Senior NHS members and select two based on the four pillars of NHS.

Award amount: State-(2) $1000 and (1) $500, Regional- (9) $1500, National-$10,000

Qualifications: High school seniors who are members in good standing of an affiliated NHS chapter and demonstrate the four guiding pillars of NHS.

CWDAK Scholarship

Qualifications: Graduating Senior, GPA 3.0 and above, attending a KS 4 yr post-secondary school, major in Agriculture or Plant Science

Award amount: $250 for fall semester

Kansas 4-H Scholarship

Must Attend: post-secondary school

Application Process: www.kansas4h.org/Awards/Default.htm. Transcript. Letter of recommendation from school personnel, non-related 4-H leader of extension agent. 4-H resume and regular resume. Essay on “4-H has impacted me”

Selection Process: Submit completed application to county extension agent by Feb 1.

Award Amount: depends on scholarship awarded

Qualifications: 4-H merit: 40% leadership, 30% citizenship/community service, 20% participation and recognition, 10% non 4-H school and community involvement.

Mary Hanzlicek Memorial Scholarship

Must Attend: Any full-time post-secondary

Application Process: Log on to the school scholarship site or www.smokyhillscf.org and fill out the appropriate application. Due by March 1

Selection Process: Submit a completed application to the website by the due date. The foundation will contact the school and the winners.

Award Amount: Varies

Qualifications: Student must be in good standing, graduating from Wilson High School, a member of Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church, attend CCD/CYO, enroll as a full-time student in college.

Fran Malir Memorial Scholarship

Must Attend: Accredited post secondary institution

Application Process: download the application from www.smokyhillcf.org or the school scholarship site and complete the appropriate application. Complete a one-page, double spaced essay, “Why do you want to further your education?” Deadline is March 1.

Selection Process: Submit application to the website by March 1. The foundation will notify the school and winner.

Award Amount: Varies

Qualifications: Student in good standing, graduating Wilson High School, attending an accredited post secondary institution.

Geraldine Anschutz Scholarship

Must Attend: Any Post Secondary School

Application Process: Applications found at www.smokyhillscf.org and submitted online. Due March 1

Selection Process: Made up of the faculty members of Wilson High School, Board or Education member, counselor, and principal. They make selections based on financial need, scholastic ability, leadership, and citizenship.

Award Amount: Varies each year

Qualifications: Graduating from Wilson High School, pursuing a formal education beyond high school, demonstrate scholastic ability and leadership, demonstrate citizenship, show financial need.

Eleanor Hunter Scholarship

Must Attend: Any post-secondary school

Application Process: access the application on www.smokyhillscf.org, complete it and submit online due March 1

Selection Process: Selection committee will review and select two recipients

Award Amount: amounts will vary, but two $500 minimum will be awarded

Qualifications: graduating from Wilson High School, ranked 3rd or lower in class ranks, attending an accredited post-secondary institution

Selection Process: Graduating Seniors from Russell, Hoisington, and Wilson. Successful applicants will be notified by March 18, 2016. Successful candidates and their immediate families will also be given tickets to the annual banquet on April 2, 2016 where the winners will be recognized.

Russell County Farm Bureau Assn. Scholarship

Application Process: Request an application from your counselor or on school website, mail or deliver the completed application to the Farm Bureau office in Russell

Selection Process: Russell Co Farm Bureau Assn member or Rus Co Resident, active in community/church/youth organizations, show leadership ability, have a 2.5+ GPA

Joseph Thielen Memorial Scholarship

Application Process: Complete scholarship application, two letters of recommendation, transcript all submitted to Susan Thielen due March 13th

Selection Process: Joseph P. Thielen Memorial Scholarship Committee will review applicants and notify winners by May.

Qualifications: Academic Achievement, personal livestock enterprises, 4-H/FFA/Ag activities and leadership, School Activities and honors, Community activities and honors, career plans

Wilson Sorosis Scholarship

Selection Process: Wilson Communications Representatives

Award Amount: $500 per recipient. Recipient will receive $250 for two semesters.

Qualifications: Must reside within Wilson Communications’ service area. Telephone prefixes within their service area are 225, 277, 373, 525, 526, 529, 658. All applicants must complete the application in its entirety. This includes the required essay as well as an academic and extracurricular activities resume.

Kvasnicka Scholarship

The Smoky Hill Cattlewomen Scholarship

Qualifications: A student who will be or is currently attending higher education, GPA of 2.5 or higher, majoring in an area of study related to Beef, Agriculture, or Food & Nutrition, preference given to Ellsworth Co residents

Dr. F.A. Dlabal Courteous Driver Award

Application Process: Seniors will vote for one male and one female. The driver’s education instructor nominates two other students. Due April 1st

Selection Process: The principal, three community members, and the Chief of Police select one of the four nominees to receive the award.

Gene Weinhold Memorial

Wilson Alumni Association Scholarship

Must Attend: Any post-secondary

Application Process: Complete application form from the counselor or on the school website. Write a paragraph about your future goals and why you feel you need the scholarship and attach to the application form. Submit three letters of reference with the application. Return all completed materials to the counselor by April 1.

Selection Process: Application is to be submitted to the school counselor. Alumni Selection Committee as follows: School Principal, School Counselor, Amy Branda, Don Peterka, Junior class sponsors, and Senior class sponsors. Should one of the selectors be unable to serve, the current 25 year class officers will fill the vacancy.

Award Amount: Ticket sales and donations

Qualifications: Must be a high school graduate, a new inductee into the Wilson Alumni Association, and attend the Alumni banquet.

Christina A. Dolechek Medical Scholarship

Qualifications: Legal resident of Ellsworth County and accepted into a program that leads to a career in the medical field.

Shay Ann Mog Scholarship

Application Process: Use the general local application form on the school website. Write an essay of 500 words or less on their goals and desires in life. Return to: Craig Mog, PO Box 275, Wilson, KS 67490. Due April 1st

Selection Process: Craig and Debbie Mog

Award Amount: $1000 annually, with $500 presented each semester

Qualifications: Any graduating Wilson High School student. The candidate must have good family and community morals. For this scholarship: citizenship, leadership, and financial need will all be given consideration.

KNEA Scholarship

Must Attend: Study in an area of education or related field requiring education classes

Application Process: Complete application form on school website and return to Mr. Brokes. Due April 1st

Selection Process: Local KNEA will select recipient

Award Amount: Varies each year

Qualifications: The applicant must be in good standing and graduating in the current year. Each applicant must submit 3 references that relate/support their experience.

H & B Communications Scholarship

Qualifications: Must have a phone number with a Dorrance or Holyrood prefix. This includes 252 and 666 prefixes. All Dorrance and Holyrood students qualify.

Wilson Economic Development Corporation Scholarship

Qualifications: Graduating Senior from Wilson High School. Enrolling in a post-secondary institution.

Application Process: Use the WEDC Scholarship form found on the school website under Local Scholarship Forms on the counselor’s corner page. Fill it out and return to the address above or on the application.

Selection Process: The Economic Development Committee will review ALL applications.

Award Amount: $500, distributed in two payments upon proof of enrollment.

Due Date: April 1st

Bunker Hill Lions Club Scholarship

Russell Regional Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship

Application Requirements: Russell Co resident, any employee of the Russell Regional Hospital, or any student who attends a school district in Russell Co. Pursuing a career in a medical field such as a doctor, nurse, LPN, physician’s assistant, laboratory technician, physical therapist, hospital dietitian, etc.

Application Process: complete application from the school website and return to Mollie Haberer.

American Legion Auxiliary Scholarship, Post #262

Eligibility Requirements: Potential Auxiliary Member; direct descendant of an American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, or Sons of the American Legion; must be a graduate or candidate for graduation from Wilson High School; must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above; must write a one-page, double spaced essay, “What is the importance of the American Legion?” (please type)

Application Process: complete the application from the school website or ask for a copy from the Counselor. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. The essay needs to be attached to the application form. Complete and return the application to the school counselor before April 30.
